Missoula, Montana
Radius Gallery’s design takes cues from the historic fabric of
downtown Missoula and responds to the scale of adjacent buildings.
Primary exterior materials of brick, steel and glass were selected for
their endurance and relation to Missoula’s building stock.
Interior materials were kept minimal and consist of white walls and
ceilings, reclaimed wood floors, and steel accents to tie to the
exterior language. A staircase of steel and floating reclaimed timbers
divides the main gallery spaces and becomes the architectural focal
point. The new building is set atop an existing foundation in order to
limit the use of concrete and greatly reduce the carbon footprint of
the project.
